Introduction
UMA payments are typically instant, but in some cases a payment may take longer to settle depending on the receiving bank. If your UMA payment is still pending, this article explains what to expect and what happens next.
What a pending UMA payment means
A pending payment means the transfer has not yet reached the receiving account. In most cases, the payment completes quickly. If it does not settle right away, the receiving bank may need additional time to process it.
What happens if the payment stays pending
If the payment remains pending for 24 hours without reaching the receiving account, it will be automatically canceled.
When a payment is canceled, an automatic refund is issued to the sender.
The refund is typically received within 3 to 5 business days.
When to contact support
If you would like more information about the refund timeline, please contact SoFi support for help.
Summary
Most UMA payments settle quickly. If a payment is still pending after 24 hours, it will be canceled automatically and the sender will receive a refund within 3 to 5 business days.
